Every kid loves Legos - those fantastically versatile, brightly colored interlocking little blocks that hurt like nobody's business when you step on them in the dark. Even so, parents love them, too, for the hours of creative play they provide. And how many architects and engineers launched their start building Lego houses and space stations?

Parents looking for an activity to keep Lego loving munchkins ages 3 and older engaged during the summer months need look no further. McChord Library will once again sponsor the Saturday morning Lego Club. It's a terrific opportunity for kids to get together and see their imaginations take shape as they build with Legos to their hearts' content.

Beginning June 6th, McChord Library, located on the ground floor of Building 851 on McChord Field, will host the Lego Club on the first Saturday of every month. The Club will commence at 10 a.m., and all supplies will be provided by the library.  Children need only to bring their imaginations.

Sue Baldwin, McChord Library's supervising librarian who overseas the Lego Club, says, "It's a great way for kids to learn problem solving and creativity."

Space is limited, so registration is required. Beginning May 30, parents can register their children at the McChord Library. The Lego Club is open to any child 3 years of age and older and is free of charge.

All of the fantastic Lego creations will be displayed for parents to "Ooh" and "Aah" over. However, they remain the property of McChord Library, so bring a camera to make the memories last.

Be sure to secure a spot for your creative tot at this summer's Lego Club. You never know where an opportunity like this could lead.

Saturday Morning Lego Club, beginning June 6, McChord Library, Bldg. 851 Lincoln Blvd. SW, McChord Field, free, ages 3 and older
