Woot! Day One of the Washington Brewers Festival is in the history books, a glorious affair nestled between a bumpy field and cloudy skies. Yes, the state's granddaddy of beer festivals has returned to Marymoor Park in Redmond, with 88 breweries pouring 330 different beers, plus a lot of free bags of Tim's Cascade Chips. Here are scenes from Day One, Friday, June 13. We concentrated on the South Sound breweries (natch!). - Ron Swarner

They called out to ye faithful, and all ye faithful answered. Saturday May 10, at the third annual Gig Harbor Beer Festival, I watched the gigantic beer garden in the middle of the posh Uptown Gig Harbor retail hub space slowly but surely fill up with the most faithful of beer-goers. Let me assure you, shelling out about $25 for a six-hour session of beer sampling is absolutely worth it, especially when many of these beers have been just released, or are limited-edition, or are 9 percent ABV and up. Aisle of View and Perry Acker bands provided the soundtrack. Beautiful, beer-y day in Gig Harbor. - Ron Swarner
Pasties and butt cheeks and hip-hop Toto, oh my! We saw all three - and more titillating fun - in The Gritty City Sirens' "Adventures in Oz," a Wizard of Oz-inspired burlesque production at the Temple Theater Ballroom. We caught a full dress run of Tacoma's burlesque troupe's largest production to date, which went live April 19. Here are a few photos ...

The duo climbed up on the Weekly Volcano Electric Salchow Stage and performed folk, blues, rock and holiday songs while skaters twirled, glided and crashed on the ice surface at Tollefson Plaza.

Oh momma, it was sweet.

Around 6,000 people roamed Cheney Stadium's outfield Saturday, Sept. 7 at the 2013 Tacoma Craft Beer Festival. Some 75 brewers were among the dozens of exhibitors that lined the outfield wall selling shirts, beer supplies and etched growlers. As bands rocked the crowd from second base, and golf carts delivered a constant stream of kegs and ice, folks drank and discussed beer, cider and a few wines from throughout the Northwest. The fest benefitted the American Heart Association and the Emergency Food Network. Bonus: The stadium opened its restrooms, parking and concession stands. All in all, it was a fun day in the sun. - Pappi Swarner
