It's a new week, which means it's time for a new installment of Bobble Tiki's South Sound music news and notes column. Without further ado, let's get rolling.

Bobble Tiki knows what you're thinking - and no - he's not all that upset to have been moved exclusively to weeklyvolcano.com. Bobble Tiki understands the facts. Number one: Bobble Tiki is drunk most of the time - making the Internet, and its wild, incoherent ramblings - a natural destination for the Bobbling one. Number two: The Weekly Volcano debuted a print hip-hop column this week, Non-Stop Hip-Hop by Jose S. Gutierrez Jr. Although Bobble Tiki is far too old and traditional to make any attempt at understanding hip-hop, he does understand the fact that choosing a new hip-hop column over Bobble Tiki's geriatric, boxed wine fueled rants was a no-brainer for Volcano brass.

No, Bobble Tiki's not too upset about the decision, but that's not to say he was going to let the powers that be at the Volcano see it. Rather, devious as always, Bobble Tiki is turning the development into a chance to check out Metal Effing Fridays at Uncle Sam's Bar and Grill in Spanaway this week. With a catch line of, "Pissed off at your boss? Need to blow off some steam?" - Metal Effing Fridays seem like, just maybe, the perfect way for Bobble Tiki to bring in the coming weekend, and considering the circumstances, he's pretty sure he can charge the entire, drink-filled evening to the Volcano's expense account without the Swaner Boys (riddled with guilt over sending Bobble Tiki to the Web) raising an objection.

Put on by David Bro of the band Koz of Konfusion, Metal Effing Fridays are described as events "thrown by a metal band for metal bands to have great shows in the Tacoma area." According to Bro, Metal Effing Fridays, throughout the summer, will be taking full advantage of the outdoor 42-foot stage - as well as raising money for a number of different worthy causes. The Funky Monkey 104.9 FM has also jumped on board as a sponsor - making the chances for success of Metal Effing Fridays all the more likely.

Finally, before saying goodbye for the week, Bobble Tiki would like to remind each and every Tacoman out there that The Fucking Eagles will play The Swiss in Tacoma on Friday with The Whore Moans and Virgin Islands. While Bobble Tiki - and most of the Volcano's staff - has gushed endlessly about The Fucking Eagles (for good reason), Bobble Tiki will never, ever pass at an opportunity to direct music fans to what will surely be one of the best musical happenings of the weekend - and when the Fucking Eagles are involved, you know that's what you'll be getting.
