It's a new week, which means it's time for a new installment of Bobble Tiki's South Sound music news and notes column. Without further ado, let's get rolling.

So, um, Floater is coming to Hell's Kitchen.

Wait. What? You've heard this one before?

No, this is different. That was last time. Floater is coming BACK to Hell's Kitchen ... again. The '90s famous, Portland-based band has become a regular at Tacoma's favorite hard rock club over the last few years, and the Floater onslaught doesn't look like it'll be cooling anytime soon. This time around, they'll be back in town on Friday, playing with In Lunar Blue and Rishloo. If you happen to miss the show, just wait a couple months.

All jokes aside, there are still plenty of people stoked about a Floater show - whether it's the first in Tacoma this year or the hundredth. The band has T-town connections, and they obviously haven't forgotten them.

Plus, don't get Bobble Tiki confused for an idiot. He knows the score with Floater in T-town. Editor Matt Driscoll tried to make a few post-grunge jokes at Floater's expense in 2008, and he still has trouble sitting down without wincing.

It's obvious. Tacoma has a thirst for more Floater. Friday, it'll be momentarily quenched.

Moving on, Bobble Tiki would like to spend considerable space in this week's column with a couple notes on Tacoma's quickly emerging, totally-awesome all-ages club, The Den at urbanXchange. Over the next few days, the music-slash-tea-vintage-clothing-spot will once again prove its tremendous worth to this Grit filled city of ours.

First and foremost, on Friday Ohio's Annabel - a post rock band in the truest sense of the made-up term - will pull into town, and back their tour van up to Den - no doubt intent on dispersing on Tacoma the sweet, well-crafted, nearly note perfect pop the band has come to hang its hat on. Currently hitting the country, on a tour stretching from Oregon to Missouri, it wasn't that long ago that a band like Annabel wouldn't have had a venue in Tacoma to house them, even if they'd wanted to swing through town. These days, thanks to the Den - and other like-minded venues - Tacoma's all-ages ears wont be denied.

Then, on Sunday - when a large swath of the indie population is in Eastern Washington participating in the communal hipness that is Sasquatch - The Den will give all those back home something to smile about, in the form of two amazing shows. The first, featuring Wheelies, Makeup Monsters and guests will kickoff at 5 p.m., Then - only a couple hours later - the much respected Jaguar Love, Juiceboxxx and Japanther will take to The Den's eclectic stage.

If you happen to find yourself alone in Tacoma this weekend, minus a Sasquatch ticket, there's simply no better way to blow off some steam.

And, according to The Den's Alease Frieson, it's only one of many exciting things headed to The Den this in the coming months, including hosting Speak Your Soul events every other Friday starting June 4.

"We have some big surprises coming this summer," says Frieson.

Tacoma should be thankful.
