It's a new week, which means it's time for a new installment of Bobble Tiki's South Sound music news and notes column. Without further ado, let's get rolling...

To those astute readers of Bobble Tiki's weekly column out there - all seven of you - who have perhaps noticed this week Bobble Tiki's column is miraculously appearing a day later than usual, Bobble Tiki has just one word for you.

Whatever.

Things happen, people. Tikis get busy. Tikis get inundated with life-crap. Tikis get drunk on boxed wine watching "So You Think You Can Dance" and doze off on the couch by 9:30 p.m. - when they should be writing a column.

It's par for the course, really.

The important thing is, Bobble Tiki's column is here now - and you're reading it. Let's just move on to bigger and better things.

As the song goes, tonight's the night (it's gonna be alright).

But that's about as far as the cheesy Rod Stewart references will go.

Opening up for the relentless Hell's Belles, Kevin and Andy Day - the Day brothers, if you will - will unleash their new band at Hell's Kitchen tonight. Tacoma stalwarts since way back, see Gift and Top Heavy Crush - Kevin and Andy have reportedly been holed up with Greg Friesz and Todd Clirehugh (Cadillac Radio) "rehearsing religiously" for tonight's debut. If the Day brothers' history is any indication, expect this new band to error on the side of catchy-as-hell guitar riffs and rock swagger.

In fact, it seems only one thing remains - a band name. No announcement has been made as to what the Day brothers' new band will be called, and unless something has changed - they're still looking for suggestions for "good rock band names."

Bobble Tiki has long said all good band names have already been taken, and he stands by this stance. However, with Matt Driscoll celebrating the birthday of his daughter today, the Volcano editor does have one suggestion - stemming from a fevered trip to Top Foods last night in search of birthday treats for his daughter's school today.

Immanent Cupcakes. It's not Bobble Tiki's idea, but he does think Kevin and Andy would be wise to consider it.

Bobble Tiki loves a good battle. It's just in his DNA. For instance, Bobble Tiki likes the show American Gladiators. Bobble Tiki also enjoys Siamese fighting fish, Siskel and Ebert and that episode of Sesame Street where Bert and Ernie accidentally murder a hooker - and keeping the dirty secret drives the two longtime friends apart.

What does that have to do with Saturday's show at The New Frontier Lounge, billed as Goldwing vs. Trip the Light Fantastic?

Not much, really - Bobble Tiki just has a word count he needs to hit in order to qualify for his weekly allotment of Red Hots and Michelob Ultra.

That said, the Goldwing vs. Trip the Light Fantastic show should definitely be on worth dropping in on - if not for the epic battle of T-town rock, than simply for the good time of it.

"Tacoma has been great to us over the years. We are proud to have been raised here, and only hope to make the people of the City of Destiny feel the same way," Trip the Light Fantastic's Tyler Pratt has told the Weekly Volcano in the past. "I don't know if Tacoma "gets" us. We barely "get" us. All I know is we are lucky to play music that makes us smile like idiots and we hope we get the chance to do that till the day we die."

Hopefully, unless that's the idea, that death doesn't come on stage Saturday at the New Frontier, at the hands of Goldwing - though Rory Turner's outfit does have the innate ability to "kill it" - as the kids say these days.

Want to know what happens? You'll have to show up.

See you next week.
