Before you even ask the question, let Bobble Tiki answer your curiosity.

Of course Bobble Tiki is writing this week's column drunk at a sports bar, watching March Madness on a TV the size of Edgewood. And, of course, Bobble Tiki has a small (read: moderate to large) amount of money riding on this year's tournament. It's tradition. Kids have Christmas. Bobble Tiki has March Madness ... and the Super Bowl ...and the ponies ... and throwing dice with the Weekly Volcano cleaning crew out back on smoke breaks. Don't question it. It's not a problem.

Luckily, the format of Bobble Tiki's new column makes life even easier on him. It's called "Three Questions with Bobble Tiki," and if you can't figure out what's about to happen below, well, Bobble Tiki would bet you're not too bright.

Seriously - is there a line on that somewhere?

This week, Bobble Tiki got Mighty High ... the band. The Tacoma jammers will play Doyle's Public House Saturday night. Trevor Nicely was nice enough to answer a few (read: three) of Bobble Tiki's questions.

BOBBLE TIKI: The Volcano's editor, Mat Driscoll, once described Mighty High as similar to "the child of Peter Tosh and Humble Pie..." Of course, Driscoll is often high. And, in truth, things have probably changed a little since then. How would you sum up what Mighty High does?

TREVOR NICELY: Mighty High is a core unit of rock and instrumental dub reggae collaborating with other artists at different shows and events. Personally, I think we explore a psychedelic approach to original dub music popular in Europe in the ‘70s and ‘80s. This is not roots reggae or Sublime inspired music.

TIKI: The band is no stranger to Doyle's. Why do you think it works so well for you guys there?

NICELY: Doyle's is one of the few institutions in the South Sound that supports local bands and allows the friends and fans to attend for free. We love that concept in the hometown. Also, Doyle's hosts a wide variety of bands regularly and the mix of people is awesome. Lastly, have you tried a Big Ginger?!

BOBBLE TIKI: Recently, Mighty High played a show where 50 bong hits were raffled off. That's a lot of bong hits. Is it enough to get Mighty High, or does it take more than that?

NICELY: Quality not quantity, Bobble Tiki. Tisk, tisk. We've been fortunate to play some truly progressive events at here at home and on tour.
