My, how time flies. It's true what they say. Life seems to be zipping past all of us faster than ever. It's white-knuckle stuff.

Now, imagine you were an island themed souvenir working for the Weekly Volcano with a questionable visa and a not-so-secret dependency on mid-afternoon boxed wine. Imagine every shirt you owned went with Bermuda shorts. Imagine you owned the entire Jimmy Buffett collection. Imagine that, at least four times a year, you woke up someplace strange in the previous night's pants, without any clue how you got there.

This is Bobble Tiki's life. You can imagine how fast his life is going.

So, it should come as no great surprise when Bobble Tiki tells you he's literally SHOCKED to see the third year of Music Giving Back's Breastfest at the Swiss is upon us. Bobble Tiki remembers the first Breastfest like it was only yesterday. Can three years really have past since then?

It seems the answer is yes. Bobble Tiki will take another hit off the Franzia tap in his office and contemplate that one ...

This year's Breastfest is Sunday, May 8 (yes, Mother's Day), and starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Swiss.

Music Giving Back, as you'll recall, is an organization of do-gooders organized by Ben Fuller (of China Davis/Fear Train Caravan notoriety). Basically, the organization puts on shows for good causes in our area, from the 253 Heart Festival to, well, Breastfest - designed to raise awareness and money each year for breast cancer prevention and research.

In its third year, this Sunday's Breastfest III at the Swiss will specifically aid Diana McCasey's cancer fighting efforts; a cancer survivor, McCasey is participating in the Climb to Fight Breast Cancer, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - an effort that will raise at least $10,000, with 75-80 percent of it going to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.

No stranger to Music Giving Back events, Jeff Angell's the Missionary Position - currently putting the finishing touches on a follow up to Diamonds in a Dead Sky -- will be on a Breastfest III bill that also includes Radio Edit, the Stoned Evergreen Travelers and an awesome reunion performance by old school Tacoma favorites Sea Jayne Trip. Thankfully, so you don't have to put up with much more of Bobble Tiki's drivel, Angell was kind enough to sit down with the Weekly Volcano this week for three questions ...

BOBBLE TIKI: Things really seem to be going amazingly well for the Missionary Position right now. ... Just read some glowing words on the band in Denver's Westword, one of the biggest alt-weekly in the Rocky Mountain region. Bobble Tiki knows you're a tireless worker ... how sweet is this success and what do you attribute it to? You taking a break anytime soon?

JEFF ANGELL:  What is it they say? "If you do what you love, you never have to work another day in your life"? Well, what do they know? Success is a lot like religion, it's the idea that there is some magical destination where you will find yourself if you stand in line and do what you're told. Rock 'n roll is all about NOW! It's about the journey. Forget about tomorrow; there is no guarantee that it will ever arrive and honestly the work is the reward. I've known some people who were very successful with music and it appears to me that it is not only bad for your health but bad for the music as well.

We in the Missionary Position are completely obsessed, and any kind of break sounds like hell to me. Really though? What would we do with the time off? It's really better for society as a whole if we stay busy.

TIKI: How'd you get involved in Breastfest III? Why is this an important cause for you?

ANGELL:  My friend called and asked us to do it and we figured we'd lend a hand... or two. The cause is important to me 'cause I figured it would be a great way to meet new women. Kidding of course. I actually enjoy women and breasts of all sizes, so naturally we'd love to help in any way possible. Being an Aquarius I am totally against Cancer.

TIKI: Could you be happy being anything other than what you've become? There have been plenty of twists and turns that have led to this point -- some of them no doubt unpleasant as they were going down. But it's all played a part in   the making of the present. Was there ever any other path for you to take?

ANGELL: Who ever said I was happy? I am actually a masochist and I do this for the love of torture. The truth is, I love stories and in three verses a song can say as much as a novel with what it leaves to the imagination. I didn't choose music it chose me and as miserable as I have made life on myself at times, I wouldn't have it any other way.
