If you love movies and you love karaoke, then you will love The Greatest Showman Sing-Along Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Washington Center in Olympia. This fun event is reminiscent of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Attendees are encouraged to dress in costume, so wear your best circus, animal or Victorian look to fit in with the theme of the movie. There is even a costume contest.

The Greatest Showman stars Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams in the musical, which has great sing-along hits such as "This is Me", "Rewrite the Stars", and "A Million Dreams." Local Olympia celebrity Lauren O'Neill, also known as Hattie Hotpants, and Dr. Lauren, a faux therapist, cosmetologist and entertainer, will be the host for the evening.

"This will be my sixth time hosting the annual Sing-Along at The Washington Center, and I look forward to it every year," explained O'Neill. "As host and ‘Fun Captain,' I help the audience understand what will happen during the event, warm up their singing voices and host the on-stage costume contest for any guests who dress up. I keep the energy high and festive, and pop in and out occasionally during the film to keep everyone engaged. Folks love to come out and sing along or simply listen and experience it all ... being in the theater with everyone singing together is so special. It is a show I know the whole staff at The Washington Center really enjoys, both running it or watching and singing along with our patrons."

Olympia local Anne Larsen has attended the event every year since its inception with her family. "The sing-alongs are the perfect combination of cultural experience and audience participation. Our family loves the opportunity to join along and actually sing in the Washington Center, but from the safety of our seats! We love the costumes, the snow falling in front of the theater, and the holiday decorations in the lobby, too. Combined with the holiday festivities taking place downtown that day, it is a wonderful atmosphere to kick off the winter season," she said.

The Sing-Along is a great way to kick off the holiday season. So grab your family and head to the Washington Center in Olympia for an entertaining event. Make a night of it by visiting one of the many eclectic restaurants in downtown Olympia.
