NOSH LEAGUE

As part of the Weekly Volcano's new Nosh League, you can meet up with like-minded foodies at locally owned restaurants and businesses and take advantage of special discounts, win restaurant gift certificates, and learn tips from chefs and food producers. Nosh League events will take place on a regular basis and will be packed with fun, educational elements - not to mention tons of great, diverse food.  Learn about goat cheese from a local cheese maker. Get turned on to the art of charcuterie by a master. Discover the secrets to perfect pasta making with the help of an expert.

And, of course, eat and drink - with special deals just for you. In addition to the fun events,

Nosh League members will become recognized restaurant raters on the Weekly Volcano Web site. Your reviews will be starred and weighted heavily - and even included in the paper from time to time.

On Thursday, July 8, the Nosh League will form a Nosh Pit inside Cork! A Wine Bar at 3012 Sixth Ave. in Tacoma, where the League will enjoy an amazing spread of cheeses and wines. Sign up for the Nosh League in the Community section on our Web Site.

If you are not a member of the Weekly Volcano's Community yet, join here.

Once you're a member of our site, you may join the Nosh League in the Groups section, where you will discover the details on our wine and cheese tasting night at Cork!

NOW OPEN

The Harmon Tap Room (204 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma) opened its new production brewery in Tacoma's Stadium District Monday. Pat Nagle and partner Carole Holder have been working hard for months to build a production facility for their Harmon beers that doubles as a dining and retail space in the spot that once housed Stadium Bistro. In a nutshell, it's a slick (Rusty George Creative revised their corporate logos, bottle labels and tap handles) tasting room that seats 50 - on two giant communal tables, six or seven beer barrel tables and a couch area - where beer enthusiasts can sip on Harmon's Point Defiance IPA (India Pale Ale) and Browns Point ESB (Extra Special Bitter) and their other brews while throwing back paninis, pizza and salads. During breaks in conversation or the game, patrons may watch brewers Mike Davis, Bill Lundeen and Jeff Carson craft beer through huge windows.

TUESDAY DEAL

Goodfellas Italian Steakhouse inside the Great American Casino offers a four-course dinner every Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. for $20. Do it at 10117 S. Tacoma Way in Lakewood.
