At the mere mention of dessert my first inclination is to shout, "Yes, please!"

Crockett's Public House in Puyallup offers a few tasty choices so every meal gets a happy ending.

Dusted with powdered sugar, a homemade fudge brownie is both dense and cake-y. A scoop of locally made Olympic Mountain vanilla ice cream provides much needed moisture. It may just be the glutton in me, but a drizzle of hot fudge would shoot that brownie into the awesome-sphere of the dessert universe ($6.49).

On the apple pie front, a sweet and buttery crust spiced generously with cinnamon makes an excellent cradle for sliced Fuji apples. The menu touts the pies as baked fresh daily. Served hot with rich vanilla ice cream, the consistency of the apples and the nicely flaky crust confirms this ($8.49).

Those who enjoy liquor will clap their hands with glee over a bourbon caramel shake. Made with Ghirardelli caramel, this is a high quality adults-only dessert. Two ounces of Maker's Mark bourbon give a kick to the shake that leaves no question as to the liquor's presence in the luscious vanilla depths. Served in a tall, fountain-style glass ($6.99), it's easily shared - as are all of the generously portioned desserts at Crockett's.
