Proctor District's favorite wine bar Pour at Four (3814 N. 26th St., Tacoma) hosts complimentary wine tastings. It's a beautiful thing. This week, from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday, March 13, you may taste six Spanish wines.


Join the Pierce County Firefighters Pipe and Drums band March 15 for their huge annual fundraiser. It's a libation and music filled adventure with a bus that takes folks through Tacoma, Puyallup and Gig Harbor to enjoy live entertainment, cocktails and no cover charges. The $75 ticket price includes a band T-shirt. March 17, it all goes down again for $25, you'll receive a shirt and a shot of HDC Fall Classic Apple Cider Whiskey at the participating bars. Anthony's celebrates West Coast oysters during its March Oyster Festival. Special menu items starring the oyster include an oyster burger, oyster tacos, pan fried oysters and shooters. Anthony's suggests you pair the oysters with "oyster wines." Throughout the month you oyster lovers may enjoy "Oyster Happy Hour" with $6 glasses of wine and daily oyster specials. Maxwell's Speakeasy (454 Saint Helens Ave., Tacoma) launches its new monthly Wine Social Thursday March 20. For $40, lovers of the vine may sip four wine varietals perfectly paired with four gourmet small plates concocted by Chef Hudson Slater. Participants are encouraged to mix and mingle with each other.
