Gray, cloudy fall weather got you down? Politics bumming you out? Just plain sick and tired of the daily grind? Maybe what you need is a good laugh and a chance to spend an evening with friends, forgetting those troubles and ... who knows? ... maybe even being inspired.

The Olympia Film Society will present nationally acclaimed comedian, Josh Blue, winner of NBC's Last Comic Standing and star of Comedy Central Presents: Josh Blue and the Showtime original special, Sticky Change, Nov. 19. Life handed Blue a lemon, and as you'll see, he has squeezed every last drop of juice out of that sucker. Known as  "the comic who puts the cerebral in cerebral palsy", Blue uses self-deprecating, honest and occasionally interactive humor to break down barriers everywhere he goes.

Seattle's own Elicia Sanchez will open for Blue with what The Capitol Hill Times has dubbed her "madcap tales of social incompetence." Performing up and down the west coast since 2010, Sanchez's Facebook page describes her unique brand of humor as an "upbeat comedic style" that "consists of a mix of personal stories, nerdy obsessions and social politics."

The evening's entertainment is presented by the Olympia Film Society. Since 1980, the mission of the OFS has been "to enliven and enrich our community by presenting and fostering the development of independent and underrepresented film, music and allied arts."  Josh Blue's stand-up comedy performance is part of that ongoing mission.

Tickets for the show are available at the Capitol Theater box office located at 206 5th St. in Olympia. They can also be purchased online at www.olympiafilmsociety.org. Admission is $15 for OFS members and $20 for non-members. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins promptly at 8 p.m. This is an all ages show, and the Mezzanine Lounge will be open for those ages 21 and over with ID.

So mark those calendars for Thursday, Nov. 19, and prepare to have pre-conceived ideas painlessly obliterated through Josh Blue's offbeat comedy routines. It might just make the November gloom a little less gloomy.
