Musician, actor and spoken word provocateur Henry Rollins will stop by Olympia's Capitol Theater on Sept. 10 on the third stop of his marathon "Capitalism Tour."

The extensive run of performances will see Rollins perform in all 50 state capitals as well as his hometown, Washington D.C., leading up to the presidential election on Nov. 6.

The often outspoken Rollins first came to the public's attention in the early 1980s as the frontman of Washington D.C.'s SOA, and later the California hardcore band Black Flag.

Rollins is no stranger to spoken word, he won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Recording for Get in the Van: On the Road with Black Flag, and had incorporated spoken word into his music for years; the Rollins Band track "Liar" found massive radio play with the use of spoken word.

So what will he talk about on his "Capitalism" tour?

He addressed that in a recent interview with TheIndependent.ca, an online Canadian newspaper serving Newfoundland and Labrador: "You can say, ‘What, you're a socialist?' Well, I don't know. I like capitalism quite a bit actually, because it rewards me for thinking outside of the box. It rewards me for working hard, which is what I like to do," he said. "But when it has no rules and when the corporations can dictate the politics, there's no level playing field and there's gonna be, like I said, a few winners and a whole lot of losers. And a lot of losers are global, you know. Africa - the continent will probably be the No. 1 loser."

While opposing U.S. involvement in the Middle East wars, Rollins has joined United Service Organization tours to entertain troops serving abroad. He explained that in the same interview, "Soldiers don't start wars, they don't dictate policy - they take the orders," he said. "So getting mad at a soldier about a war is like getting mad at the lady behind the counter because your flight is late."

Rollins' nuanced view on American politics is sure to be infused by his dry-often self-referential style of spoken word that incorporates blunt directness, anger and humor.

"I'm one of the angriest people I've ever met," he said in an interview with Bismark's Great Plains Examiner. "But for me, being at my age, it's a civic anger. I'm mad, therefore I vote, and therefore I educate myself. I just think things can be better, and people who are in a position to do something about it aren't doing anything. And that leads to my anger."

This super talented line up at Olympia’s premier rock club is going to be one for the books. This Friday, for $3, at 9 p.m. expect heads to bang, fists to pump, and energy to be high.

Resident Kings is known for their expertise rock from seasoned local musicians from The Dirty Birds, Fitz of Depression, Chief, and The Pitz.

The Hard Way is influenced by the great sounds of the 60’s, 70’s and 90’s like Beach Boys, Van Halen, Elliot Smith, Tom Petty and The Foo Fighters, and it shows with their tight riffs and melodic rock.

Full Moon Radio is a little newer on the scene, but just as heady. With an all girl front, FMR comes in strong and goes out swinging. Hard and heavy, but sweet just the same.

There is a lot to do this weekend. So I'll just list it out for ya'll. Friday there's a bunch of stuff to choose from. Sweatbox Entertainment, which is the production side of Mr. Von's crew, brings "Slice of Hip-Hop 2", which is a show he plans at Louie G's in Fife. Louie G's always has an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet going-on during their shows, so that's awesome. The sound is always good at Louie G's also. On the bill this time is none other than Mr. Von himself, Neema, Spaceman, Disekt One, and Jon Salt. This would be a good show even in Seattle. It's only $5 to get in, which is a steal on a Friday night and the show is all-ages, so that's a win!

                  Also Friday night in Kent at the Central Ave Pub, D.J. Skrewball and his cool-ass fiancée, Dawn Burke, are having an engagement party, hooray! Congratulations Family! The show is free but ya can always bring a little wedding-donation, knowhatI'msayin? Bring in the occasion with Influential Minds, Big Bounce and Tacnology Entertainment, and more. On a side-note, Big Bounce is a Tacoma Hip-Hop stalwart. He's down with everybody and has a wonderful, raspy, deep, gravelly, sinister voice.

                  Perhaps the biggest show of the night is Abom's release for his fifth project titled, "5 Starz". The release-show is at The California Night Club, which as of now is the main Hip-Hop venue in Tacoma. It's only $5 to get in and that comes with a copy of the album, so that's a bargain. It's a 24 track project, so it's worth the affordable entry-fee. The night features performances from A.R. Mastermind, King Scrub, 1 Take (who is Darius and Ryan C.), Sky Pilot, and I'm sure there's going to be some cool special-guests.
