If you're anything like me you've spent some time in front of the boob tube. It's a very American tradition. While other countries have cultures revolving around family or long-standing traditions, we have the boob tube.
It seems like a fair trade.
One of my favorite parts of watching television, besides the way my ass becomes physically part of the couch after eight hours or so, is the commercials â€" specifically the way they target an audience. For example, after 1 a.m., one out of every three commercials is for "Girls Gone Wild" or some sort of hot chat. It would seem the powers that be, the people controlling which commercials air when, have decided that after 1 a.m. everyone watching television is sitting lonely at home waiting for an exciting glimpse of flesh to help them gently glide off to sleep, after, well, you know.
They may be right.
It's the same way in the middle of the day, when every other commercial is for some sort of bogus school or vocational training. It really makes you wonder just how many people are sitting around out there jobless and listless, uneducated, waiting for an online university to send them a degree so they can start making the big bucks.
That's how it happens, right?
In one of the strangest things I've seen in awhile, tonight, Harvey Danger is slated to rock Devry University, in a benefit for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
I would never make fun of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, but DeVry University seems like fair game. Maybe I'm just bitter. That degree I earned from those bastards in underwater Nintendo repair just hasn't resulted in the financial security I expected. It's a 107.7 "The End The Young & The Restless" show with Speaker Speaker and Mountain Con. Tonight, 8 p.m., all ages, DeVry University, 3600 S. 344th Way, Federal Way. â€" Matt Driscoll
