STEVE DUNKELBERGER: THEATER THURSDAY >>>
Oklahoma!
Capital Playhouse is staging a gem of a show. The Olympia theater that can do no wrong is bringing the South Sound Oklahoma!, which is the first musical play written by the theater royalty team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.
Set in Oklahoma Territory outside the town of Claremore in 1906, the show features two tangled triangles of characters â€" Laurey, a pretty young girl, and the two men who love her, the clean-cut Curly and the more sinister Jud Fry; and the more light-hearted trio of Ado Annie and her two suitors, Will Parker, and a traveling peddler, Ali Hakim. Troy Arnold Fisher, pulls double duty as director and music director of this show and has brought back many of the strong talents from this summer’s cast of Children of Eden, including Gabriella Guilfoil staring as Laurey and Bailey Boyd as Ado Annie. Sean Stinnett sung his way into the lead role of Curly McLain.
[KJM Center for the Arts, 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Sunday, also 2 p.m. Sunday, $10-$15, South Puget Sound Community College, 2011 Mottman Road, Olympia, 360.943.2744
