Volcanoblastart MEETING
Community Based Services
The City of Tacoma will host a community information meeting about the expansion of the Community Based Services (CBS) program â€" which will officially start attempting to reduce crime, blight, and all sorts of other nasty stuff on the same day in the Lincoln, Lincoln South, Whitman and Dome Top neighborhoods. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Lincoln High School Auditorium, and “light refreshments” will be served. Citizens will get a briefing about how the City of Tacoma will work with citizens from the aforementioned neighborhoods to make life better for all involved â€" both people affected by high rates of crime and ugliness in the area and the police and city employees who respond to the frequent calls for service from that neck of the woods. Education and community involvement will be stressed, as will the fact that the CBS program can’t work without concerned citizens taking charge. â€" John Herbert

ROCK
Mothers Anger
If you attend this show, bring your earplugs as Mothers Anger might cause hearing loss for a few days after their gig if you don’t. The Michael Davis (MC5 bass player) â€"endorsed Israel duo are pretty hardcore as they mix punk, garage and classic rock for a bombastic timbre that can only be described as shit kickin’ rock and roll. But don’t compare them to the White Stripes or you’re liable to get kicked in the gonads. Relying on volume, screaming guitars, crashing drums and vile vocals, Mothers Anger is not a polished band. Rather, they play loose and wild with a fury that harkens back to the Stooges in 1968. But they aren’t a band without an opinion or philosophy. That’s right, no songs about hot rods and getting laid.  â€" Tony Engelhart
