Whether walking or riding the ART BUS, tomorrow's Third Thursday ArtWalk once again will be loaded with fabulous art and Costco wine from 5-8 p.m. Remember the Tacoma Art Museum, Museum of Glass and the Washington State History Museum offer free admission during the ArtWalk.
Here are a few stops we recommend:
THE ART STOP: ARFS & CRAFTS, the annual benefit for the Prison Pet Partnership Program at the Women's Correctional Institute at Purdy and the Gig Harbor based Assistance Dog Club of Puget Sound, will be held April 15-17 at The Art Stop. Local artists have created "function, fanciful, funky, fun and fabulous" practical put-‘em-on-the-kitchen-floor to exquisite and artsy works of fancy pet dishes to be auctioned off from 5 p.m. April 15 to 3 p.m. April 17.
The Art Stop will, once again, hand out the Silver Biscuit Award. Hand-crafted of sterling silver by Tacoma artist Joan Joachims, the Silver Biscuit is awarded to the artist whose bowl is voted Best of Show by visitors to ARFS & CRAFTS. In addition, a panel of celebrity judges will select The Pick of the Litter from the entries. 5-8 p.m., 940 Broadway, Tacoma, 253.274.1630
BELLABALLS STUDIO: Diane Hansen and Lesli Jacobs-McHugh introduce their latest hand-blown glass floats with a sterling silver design titled Edwardian Heart at their latest bella Social. TACOMA ART SUPPLY: Tyrone Patkoski, 59, spent 20 years as a homeless, urban Native American, peering through art gallery windows with his own, raw art under his arm. After prompting and support from Joan Staples Baum, Tahoma Indian Center program manager, Patkoski's work has been matted, framed and will hanging for show for the first time. Stop by Tacoma Art Supply and see raw, genuine art created from bits and pieces of found art supplies. 6-8 p.m., free, 1552 Commerce, Tacoma, 253.444.2341, Web site
TWO VAULTS GALLERY: Art and music - they're mixing it up again. Well, kind of. Carla Dimitriou and her husband, John, own Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle. Basically, the only place in the Northwest to see jazz legends perform live a few feet in front of your chicken cordon bleu. Anyway, Carla is also a talented artist. Her latest encaustic paintings and 3D constructions are on display at Two Vaults under the title wax and wire. Chat jazz and art with Carla during Third Thursday ArtWalk. 5-9 p.m., free, 602 S. We won't have wine from Costco but you can still come to our Third Thursday Artwalk April 15, and May 20th 6-8 pm. We will have live music, the artist will be here, and we will have some refreshments. There will be lot of people here so please be patient and don't give the doorperson any grief, because they are just doing their job.
