The Pierce County Library System wants your help in selecting next year's Pierce County READS book. They are asking the public to vote for one of three choices through the end of May. You may vote in any of Pierce County Library System's 18 locations or online at www.piercecountylibrary.org search site: READS.
The book choices - with the Library's description of each - are listed after the jump:
"The Big Burn: Teddy Roosevelt and the Fire that Saved America" by Timothy Egan tells an epic story of the largest-ever forest fire in America and the tragedy that cemented Teddy Roosevelt's legacy in the land. Egan is an award-winning author, garnering a Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and Pacific Northwest Booksellers award."The Happiness Project: Or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun" by Gretchen Craft Rubin chronicles the steps and lessons to one woman's happiness, which could drive many people to their own happiness. Award-winning author Rubin's "The Happiness Project" earned a #1 New York Times best-seller slot.
"The Help" by Kathryn Stockett describes the secret, unknown, un-discussed lives of domestic help in the South during the 1960s, sharing stories, worries, passions, and tenacity of a time not so long ago. Award-winning author Stockett's "The Help" starred on the New York Times Best Sellers' list for more than 50 weeks, and since January 2010 remains strong between the first and second positions.
What book did they leave off the list?
