Bought tickets to PITG the day they went on sale. Second year seeing Godsmack at White River. Was STOKED, waited all summer for it. The bands were awesome, Godsmack was perfect, and Black Label Society was "Wylde!" I've been listening to KISW since we talked the bus driver on the school bus to check out the FM stations and leave AM KJR behind... So, I'm a veteran concert goer and was jazzed about the line-up! HERE'S WHAT SUCKED... My boyfriend and I had a little pre-game going on, had a couple drinks, stopped at a local bar we like to hit before every concert, got in on the OCC raffle they had going on there, still had plenty of money saved up to contribute to the beer garden and the cause... We were having a great time, got through the line and then got pulled out of the line, told to walk back out and wait for 1/2 hour to sober up. As pissed as we were, we did it anyway, laughed about it, then tried to go back through. Said it hadn't been enough time yet, so now we're getting a little upset but still being cool, paid too much money to just go home, hell no... 5 minutes later the Sherriff and his posse of 3 come over with two rookies in blue, and...are you ready for this?...We gotta take a breathalizer to get in the concert...We both blew double the limit, which may have been a concern if we were DRIVING... They let us go in but told us if we were caught in a beer garden or drinking any more alcohol we would have to leave... Now, this was BS.... We go to a concert that's theme is all about gettin wasted, but we take precautions to be responsible... do some pre game, gonna get a hotel so we're not driving, didn't bring anything in... then get a time-out, a little humiliation, an ultimatum, and what ultimately ruined my experience at concert... So, here's the funny thing... We were totally sober by the time we left, naturally... Grabbed a beer when we got in anyway but there were SO MANY Sherrif, cops, yellow jackets, and security that it was like going to a military base to see a show... On the way home, the car broke down on the freeway... We sat there for almost two hours waiting for the tow truck and not ONE cop came by. I get that the concerts need some security, wth? But you'd think that there are a lot of other things going on out there that may require a little more attention than harrassing the long hair on the way into a concert because he looks like he might be having a good time.
