CALLING TO LOCAL ACTORS/ACTRESSES >>>

Today in TacomaArt listserv action, Tacoma artist/filmmaker Joseph Kephart posted a shout out to actors to join his Rock A Bye Dead Man short rock musical project:

CALLING CREATIVE PEOPLE!!!!!!!

Hi, we are a small local production company who has put on musical theater in the past. We're looking to create a short rock musical in the film noir/whodunit style. And we need your help. Starting now we are looking for actors/actresses, a music production studio, behind the scenes people and pretty much anyone who has resources valuable to a quality production.

Anyone who becomes involved in this project must do so knowing they will probably not get paid. (this being a labor of love) They must have a friendly attitude, with the knowledge that they are bringing something local and completely fresh into the world.

Please only respond to this challenge if you really like the theme of our project. Again, it is film noir/whodunit set to Rock/up tempo music. I'm looking to avoid as many of the clichés of musical theater as possible.  I would like to keep the story and the action moving, with the music being continuous, creating a modern rock opera in a sense.

Schedules will be flexible considering most of us have jobs, more than likely this will be a weekend project, with some weeknights when needed. This will be filmed in and around Tacoma Washington.

I want to define the type of rock music used in this film. It's a little hard to describe, but it is NOT hard-banging-your-head-against-a-wall-screeching music. Most songs include electric guitars, bass, drums keyboards, but also classical instruments as well. The music is melodic but up tempo with a good beat.

When this project is completed, depending upon the final quality, it will either be

A) pitched to cable channels

B) used as a possible short sales tape to attract a bigger studio or production company, or

C) at the very least it will wind up on the net where you will be famous (and receive credit) forever.

The mock opening trailer below represents the atmosphere of the final film, the featured music was written by me and will be part of the film.
