I was an avid listener back in middle school and high school... I did the funkey monkey haunted houses and all... but why did you make this choice just out of the blue?
All my frenns are texting me telling me about this, and they all said it was random.

Where did the monkey go ? Is he coming back? That was the only station I listened to on my hour drive to work and on my hour drive home Justin you were great you made the long drives home not so bad I think it is owed to all the loyal listeners out there a reason or even an apologies it was so unexpected! and now it's gonna be more dangerous driving while having to flip through the stations hoping and praying the monkey just moved to a different station I HATE the new station I'm not going to listen to 104.9 if the monkey isn't on it well either am I !

Totally disappointed! We have enough stations that play the "Gen X" format. If I want to hear that sh*t I will tune into 101.5, 106.1, 96.5, 93.3, 92.5. Save the apologies and goodbyes, and just BRING IT BACK!

WHAT THE HELL??? I tuned into my FAVORITE ROCK HARD statiion and I hear pop CRAP!!! I listened evceryday, did I miss an anouncement? There is NO other station that plays all contempoary hard rock ALL the time...I have to channel surf consantly just to keep my ears satisified. I still remember the very first time I found Funky Monkey. I was flipping stations in my car and tuned in just in time to hear the trademark monkey cry. My then 3 year old said he wanted "that station". We were immediately hooked, and for the last 11 years, the Monkey has been both of our favorite stations. (Okay, call me a bad parent for letting a child listen to Funky Monkey, but he's turned out just fine.) When I turned on the radio after work on Wednesday, I thought I had the wrong station. When I realized I didn't, I couldn't believe that the Monkey was playing the song that was on. I too thought it was a joke or maybe special (awful) programming because Justin was off for the holiday. When I realized that it was a whole new station with a totally different format, I coundn't believe it. Okay, so I'm technically a genx-er (the oldest of the bunch having been born in 1965), but the music they're playing now is mostly crap. I can't imagine even one Monkey listener continuing on with this new station. They've just lost a huge demographic of all ages from all walks of life. Why, why, whyyyyyy?! There's no station that even comes close to filling the gap.

I'm probably older than quite a few other listeners but I definitely prefer The Monkey to Generation X whatever the hell it is. There are already PLENTY of stations that play culled-for-sanitation 90s playlists. But there was NOTHING like The Monkey. I didn't like everything on there, but when I was in a mood to really rock and was tired of the mild stuff, I could always count on good old 104.9. That's it. I'm buying a damn satellite radio. Maybe I'll have a better selection then.

I am really sad because the music is gone...KISW nor the END had anything on the MONKEY. I drive 1-1.5 hours a day to work depending on traffic and i loved the monkey and now there's nothing to listen to i'm going to have to download music off the net for FREE and listen to it bec there is now no station that has great music and a DJ like justin. the new GenX crap come on theres like 10 other stations here with that shit on there...pull your fucking heads out of your ass and relize that shit.

Wow, I just went looking for the website, and saw that it is now down. I just moved away from Seattle to a town without Rock. Driving through Seattle won't be the same anymore, no other stations play anything near to was Funky Monkey played. And what the hell is up with the replacement station?

Funky Monkey just didn't draw a big enough audience. It had been that way for a long time, and there finally had to be a breaking point. Part of the problem is the station (104.9)'s signal strength. It can't reach enough people for a niche product like that to be successful--which is why a product like GenX 104.9 is a much safer bet.

I was In the federal Prison at Seatac for Twenty months. The monkey kept my sanity for the entire time. I got out and found nothing else could compare. I have been streaming for over a year. I feel lost .

I started listening to Monkey 11 years ago (I know I am aging myself) when it first was born. Even back then when it only played a few select songs (at night, mind you) on a CD with no DJ, it was one of the best radio spots on the air. I watched it evolve to the masterpiece it became with the induction of more air time, MORE great music and DJ's (remember Raizin). The Monkey was what a radio station should be...a place to listen to GREAT music with no BS. It's sad to to tune into 104.9 and not hear my music and have music from my past streaming through the airwaves. PLEASE BRING THE MONKEY BACK!!!!!!

KISW is OK, not great, but it doesn't come close to the Monkey. When ZROCK got taken off, I was bummed. When The Monkey came on it was as if the Metal Gods realized we need a good hard rock and metal playing station. . . . .those gods have left us = (

Awwww man, this was the only station I really listened to for the last few years. They were the only station in the area (that I knew of) that bothered to put up some real metal like Metallica, All That Remains and Bullet For My Valentine. Everyone else puts up more older rock and occasionally some metal but nothin like Funky Monkey.

I'll miss these guys, I really will. I'll miss Idiot of the Day and Justin.

I just wanna say I am so angry. This was by far the best station in the Seattle area. Now we ONLY have 99.9. This station was what the "End" used to be in the 90s. AWESOME. It was annoying when 107.7 went lame but I found the monkey. I have really missed decent music on the radio and am so thankful for technology. Don't we have enough stations around here playing the crap you're playing now? Maybe ratings could of improved if you tried improving signal??? I know I lost the station every time I went barely outside of the city (Everett gets a canadian station on 104.9)But no lets make another 101.5 how sad.
