Received the official press release today regarding the return of "Monster Jam" to the Tacoma Dome - January 14 - 16. As always, the yearly monster truck spectacle will be presented by Feld Motor Sports.

As you likely recall, Feld Motor Sports' Monster Jam has made headlines before in Tacoma, sadly for things typically unrelated to the monster truck experience.

One of the most popular touring family entertainment sporting events in the world, Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® events are affordably priced for the whole family with seats starting at just $20 for adults and only $5 for kids (advance purchase only).  In addition, Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® also offers fans the unique opportunity to enjoy unprecedented access to the drivers and their amazing machines during the "Party in the Pits" pre-show experience on Saturday, January 15.

This year will be the largest monster truck event to date in the Puget Sound area with 12 trucks competing at The Tacoma Dome (up from 10 trucks at the 2010 shows); highlighted by three trucks appearing in Tacoma for the first time ever - including The Patriot and the all-new 2011 Season trucks, Grave Digger The LegendTM and Monster Mutt Rottweiler®.  Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam fan-favorite truck icons, including world champions Grave Digger®, El Toro Loco® and Bounty HunterTM, in addition to other truck powerhouses such as Iron Outlaw, Tropical Thunder, Western RenegadeTM, Captain USA, Maniac® and Jurassic Attack® will be electrifying crowds with the breathtaking stunts and awesome power of the world's most popular monster trucks.

The ultimate experience for any die-hard Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® fan, the "Party in the Pits" pre-show experience on Saturday, January 15 provides fans with unparalleled access by giving them the opportunity to get a view of the trucks up close and meet the drivers of the massive monster trucks.

Event schedule for Advance Auto Parts Monster Jam® at The Tacoma Dome is as follows:

Friday, January 14                  8:00 pm

Saturday, January 15             2:00 pm and 8:00 pm

                                 **Pit Party scheduled from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Sunday, January 16               1:00 pm and 7:00 pm


Approximately 12 feet tall and about 12 feet wide, monster trucks are custom-designed machines that sit atop 66-inch-tall tires and weigh a minimum of 10,000 pounds. Built for short, high-powered bursts of speed, monster trucks generate 1,500 to 2,000 horsepower and are capable of speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Monster trucks can fly up to125 to 130 feet (a distance greater than 14 cars side by side) and up to 35 feet in the air.

A bit ironic that the press release calls them "DIE-HARD FANS"- because that kid definitely "DIED-HARD"...
