Tuesday, April 19, three days before Earth Day, the Tacoma City Council will introduce two new sustainability policies, one regarding the city's internal purchasing standards and the other relating to its construction and building maintenance standards. Both policies are designed to ensure that Tacoma leads by example as it encourages businesses and citizens to act more sustainably.

That's great that the council is talking about it doing something like this at a goverment level. That;s what good leadership is about, progressive thinking. Way to go Tacoma.! Healthy decision like this is so important to the survival of our future all over th world.. Germany (greenroofs/solar) and Iceland (geopthermal energy) lead the way to a cleaner , safer future. San Fransisco realalizes that biodiversity within it's city is crucial. www.sustainable-city.org/Plan/Biodiver/intro.htm
