Clover Park School District has plans for you Thursday night. Let's take a look ...
Nearly a dozen Clover Park High School (CPHS) art students will be honored Thursday, April 24 by members of the U.S. Army's 513th Transportation Company for designing and painting a mural in the company's boardroom. The mural shows scenes of the company's history. Company representatives will present students with special coins and certificates.
"After four months, 15 Saturday sessions and more than 100 after-school hours, this mural is finally finished," said CPHS visual arts teacher Frank Casey. "The art students rocked this project!"
Casey was contacted by the company at the beginning of the school year with an invitation to paint a mural in their boardroom. With some input from the head of the company, Captain Nathan Clayton, the CPHS art club came up with a design. The students who volunteered their time are from the CPHS' art club, an advanced drawing and painting class and a beginning exploring art class.
The students will be honored during the school's Arts Festival, which will be held on April 24 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Clover Park High School at 11023 Gravelly Lake Dr. SW in Lakewood.
