A military ID gets you in. Without it, you're stuck outside the gate, watching Northwest outdoors expert after expert drive through the gate with their sports utility vehicles loaded with the latest outdoor toys. Clutching cups of scalding coffee in camouflage travel mugs and shouldering backpacks better suited for navigating trails than city traffic, they'll set up booths at Joint Base Lewis McChord's Main Exchange. Indeed, Saturday, June 28, hunting and fishing guides, vendors and outdoor experts - including representatives from Twisted Horn Outfitters, Heroes on the Water and JBLM Northwest Adventure Center - will be on hand in the Exchange parking lot as part of the JBLM Outdoor Expo. The Army and Air Force Exchange Service management at the JBLM Lewis-Main Exchange, along with more than 10 hunting and fishing guides, vendors and outdoor experts, will host an outdoor expo for Service members Saturday, June 28 in the Exchange parking lot.

The Outdoor Expo, scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and run through 6 p.m., is a great opportunity for Service members to visit with people from the area who enjoy the outdoor activities available in the Northwest.

Expo attendees can attend free seminars to listen to and learn from seven local northwest hunting and fishing experts. Attendees are encouraged to chat with the representatives at their booths, share information, develop local contacts, and connect with people who share the same outdoor passions.

Representatives from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Project Healing Waters, along with several outdoor products manufacturers, guide services and vendors will have booths set up and be available to answer questions and discuss their products.

Free fishing and hunting seminars will include:

11-11:45 a.m., Salmon Angling, Bruce Warren

12-12:45 p.m., Water Fowl Hunting, Mitch Meyers

1-1:45 p.m., Deer Hunting (Rifle), Kelly Riordin

2-2:45 p.m., Hunting the Northwest, Brian Lewis

3-3:45 p.m., Sturgeon Angling, Bruce Warren

4-4:45 p.m., Washington's Warm Water Fishery, Bruce Bolding

Fishing Puget Sound Salmon (WDFW), Ryan Lothrop                        

Twisted Horn Outfitters, Brian Lewis

Hero's on the water Northwest Chapter

JBLM Northwest Adventure Center

Project Healing Waters and Puget Sound Fly Fishers Chuck Tye

The JBLM Outdoor Expo is open to all active duty, National Guard, Reserve, Military retiree and family members who have access to the installation.
