The Legend of Bigfoot debuts Saturday

WEEKLY VOLCANO: WHOA, HELL'S KITCHEN HAS A KICKASS SHOW SATURDAY >>>

The-Legend-of-Bigfoot We don’t know if the band members of The Legend of Bigfoot traipse around the forests of the Pacific Northwest wearing special camouflaged suits designed to seal in human odor and Russian-issue night vision goggles searching for Bigfoot. After reading their MySpace bio, our guess is they do.

High Commander of galactic sector 1.9.75: Mike Krushka, Official Emissary of Planetary Cosmic Relations Jason Flom, Executive Administrator of Vibrational Patterns and Containment Fields Michael Haley; Lead Director of Low Frequency Oscillation and Harmonization Ken Love, and Associate Engineer of Audio Cloning and Replication Stanford Mead â€" a group of Tacoma musicians better known as The Legend of Bigfoot â€" will play their “official debut show” Saturday night at Hell’s Kitchen.

[Hell’s Kitchen, with Jucifer, Stone Axe, 12 Gauge Saint, Dirty Knockers, Monuments Collide and Sleeper Cell, Saturday, Aug. 29, 7 p.m., no cover before 8 p.m., $5 after, 3829 Sixth Ave., Tacoma, 253.759.6003]

Sparks Firehouse Deli

JAKE DE PAUL: THURSDAY, SEPT. 3 MIGHT BE THE DAY >>>

Back in January Volcano scribe Steph DeRosa announced that Sparks Firehouse Deli would open in May across from Sparks Stadium in Puyallup. She explained the New York style deli would carry a firehouse theme.

May came and went without an opening. So did August, which was the month Sparks Firehouse Deli claimed it would open on its Facebook page. Apparently construction issues were the cause of the delay.

The new opening date is Thursday, Sept. 3, according to its Facebook page. The deli, which sits at 621 5th St. S.W., will be open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Check out its Facebook page for photos of the joint, as well as its menus.

Meet three new people tonight

SUZY STUMP: 100TH MONKEY PARTY TONIGHT >>>

100th-monkey It's certainly easy to get caught up in a midweek routine: another Wednesday night, another 7-11 burrito, another night of America’s Got Talent. But the 100th Monkey art party wants to help you break the cycle (oh for crick's sake, just TiVo 90210 already). Tonight at 7:30 p.m., meet fellow art enthusiasts and interface with the arts while 100th Monkey Jennifer Schall presents the night’s entertainment, Russ Sonmore. Linda Danforth, Marta Olson, Houston Wimberly and a mystery artist have created the 100th monkey “tiles” and other art. The one who draws the magic number 100 tile wins the opportunity to plan the next Monkey party’s entertainment. Also, tonight’s party is honoring Tacoma Art Place’s first year of success.

And remember the idea of the 100th Monkey parties is to meet three new people.

[Theatre on the Square, Wednesday, Aug. 26, 7:30-9:30 p.m., no cover, $4 to purchase tile, but bring finger food and drink to share, 1701 Pacific Ave., Tacoma]

Il Fiasco has your wallet covered

JENNIFER JOHNSON: PASTA PARADE SUNDAY-THURSDAY >>>

Il Fiasco makes dining out easy with an inexpensive answer for indecisive frugal eaters. Sunday through Thursday the Sixth Avenue Italian restaurant owned by Mark Gaimster has an unbeatable $10 dinner special: three pastas, three sauces, one slick price.

Mangnifique!

Bread and small mixed greens salad with light herbed olive oil dressing and freshly grated Parmesan cheese precedes dinner.

Cue the pasta parade.

Expect a red, a white and sauce du jour. Chunky marinara had visible herbs and tangy sweetness ala sun-ripened tomatoes. Alfredo sauce was creamy, rich and buttery. Mushroom gorgonzola cream sauce du jour is a favorite. Penne, spaghetti, capellini â€" all were cooked beautifully al dente.

Ordering the less expensive menu option doesn’t equal invisibility here; fresh ground pepper is offered by attentive servers along with a speedy return for satisfaction inquiry after every plate.

Il Fiasco offers a better take on Olive Garden’s endless pasta bowl.

Once again quality wins over quantity.
