SUZY STUMP: VIGIL ON SIXTH AVENUE >>>
Chiara Wood of The Turning Point will host a Tacoma candlelight vigil Wednesday at 7 p.m. as part of a national vigil in protest of the five-year war in Iraq.
“The war in Iraq has gone on for nearly five! years,†Wood states in a release. “The unbearable costs at home and abroad keep mounting. It's clear that Americans are ready for a real change in direction.

On March 19, tens of thousands of people across the country will gather to observe the fifth anniversary of the war with candlelight vigils.â€
Wood would like interested participants to register at MoveOn.org, but it’s not necessary.

MATT DRISCOLL: CLINTON'S LAST DITCH EFFORT >>>
For those who missed it, Sen. Hillary Clinton and former mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani made guest appearances on "Saturday Night Live" last night. Humorous, indeed, especially Clinton's cameo - but it waits to be seen whether the appearance will pack the same punch as Bubba playing his sax on Arsenio Hall. Texas and Ohio will probably be the judge of that.
Here's what the Gray Lady is saying about it.

JOE MALIK: MILLER SAYS HE LOST 1.5 MILLION >>>
After more than three years of legal wrangling, University Place resident and Tacoma-area property developer Ken Miller has been awarded $500,000 for 1.25 acres of land taken against his wishes by regional transit authority Sound Transit. That amount, says Miller, doesn’t even cover his legal expenses. For all intents and purposes, Miller received nothing for his property, which he values at $2 million.
A Pierce County Superior Court jury today ruled that Miller is entitled to $500,000 for property taken by Sound Transit via the power of eminent domain â€" the right granted to government agencies to take private property against the owner’s will for purposes that serve the public good. The public good, in this case, would be a parking lot for riders of Sound Transit’s commuter rail line in South Tacoma.
“This wasn’t a good day,†says Miller. “We lost everything.â€

ALEC CLAYTON: REV. JAMES LAWSON TRIFECTA >>>
I never heard of the Rev. James Lawson, but if Glen Anderson of Olympia’s branch of Fellowship of Reconciliation says he’s “one of the strongest leaders in the U.S. Civil Rights Movement,†then he must be. I trust Anderson.
Lawson will speak in Tacoma Monday, Feb 25 at Shiloh Baptist Church; Tuesday, Feb. 26 at St. John Baptist Church; and Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the University of Washington, Tacoma.
Lawson was the main organizer of the nonviolent sit-ins to integrate lunch counters in Nashville, Tenn., in about 1961. He has a strong background in Gandhian nonviolence and had actually spent time in India studying the principles and methodology with some of Gandhi’s close associates.
"Speaking to Lawson is the closest most of us will ever come to speaking with Martin Luther King, Jr., who called him the leading theorist of nonviolence in the United States," says Prof. Michael Honey of the UW-Tacoma.

HUSTLER OF CULTURE
You can stand atop the mountain and scream your naked desires to the universe or shed that synapse epilepsy and hug the South Sound today with your fellow man:
MUSIC: Yesterday, Bobble Tiki complained it was Monday and there was nothing to do. Today, Tuesday, one day closer to the weekend, and there's still not much to do. It is Tightwad Tuesday at Hell's Kitchen, a Weekly Volcano sponsored event, so Bobble Tiki's boss would probably appreciate it if he mentioned that. And it is Loud and Local Night at Maggie O-Tooles. But, in all honesty, Bobble Tiki foresees spending another night on the couch in his sweat pants. Thats just the way Bobble Tiki rolls sometimes.

THREATS AND PROMISES COLUMN
Bobble Tiki's Threats and Promises column runs every week in the Volcano. Yesterday Bobble Tiki told you he'd be covering Sean Costello's show coming up at Jazzbones this week. Bobble Tiki lied. He changed his mind and will now be covering Team Unicorn Records and their party at Bob's Java Jive this weekend. Bobble Tiki hopes he hasnt disappointed anyone, but feels confident in the decision. Bobble Tiki will not be losing any sleep over the matter.
Breakfast with Bobble Tiki runs six days a week now. Deal with it.
